ICE works better than "dust removal" and seems to be just about the same level of slowdown. You'll probably just have to play with it for a while to get a feel for it. The auto exposure does tend to blow highlights, so a bit of histogram adjustment can be in order if you use the automagic exposure. I usually leave their dust removal on (not ICE, that takes WAY too long for someone who doesn't print from their scans) and I usually put the USM on high. But lots of people bitch about them, especially the film holder. I have no problems with Epson's software. How much did the epson 4490 cost you rocket? I hear that Silverast isn't bad at all, but I use Vuescan and really like it. Personally I cannot stand the Epson software. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks on how to achieve the best results for 6圆.Īlso, I am using the standard Epson Scan software, should I invest in getting something better? Following the recommendation on this forum, I bought a 4490 for scanning medium format film.
